An advisory committee is coming up with the criteria for evaluating potential sites for a transload shipping center. Colby is on the short list of potential sites, along with Dodge City, Garden City, Abilene, Hutchinson, Salina and Winfield, just to name a few. Transloading is where cargo is moved from a truck to a train or vice versa.
