Authorities believe a chemical spill at Wichita’s water treatment plant into the Arkansas River killed some fish, but is not a health risk to people. The ferric sulfate spilled from a corroded drain pipe at the plant. The head of the public works department says between 1,700 and 2,000 gallons of the chemical spilled. It’s used to help settle waste out of water that comes in.
