Wheat Harvest Creeps North, But Not Northwest

Industry group Kansas Wheat is seeing the winter wheat harvest spread. Farmers from south-central Kansas due north to the Nebraska border are cutting the crop, while in the northeast and northwest parts of the state harvest really hasn’t kicked in. Kansas Wheat also says there’s an extra challenge for farmers because the wheat is so short, and that makes it tough for combines to keep headers out of the mud.
