Investigators in Kansas City Kansas now have a potential suspect in the unsolved murder of a 19-year old woman dating back to 1989. Detectives perhaps have a link between that killing and another unsolved case from 1994 in Independence, Missouri and an abduction in 1987. Investigators aren’t saying why they believe the deaths of are connected.
The president of the Kansas Senate is pushing to override Gov. Sam Brownback’s veto of a bill at the center of a multi-million dollar tax dispute between the state and retired pizza magnate Gene Bicknell. Lawmakers expect to vote on overriding the veto Wednesday. The governor rejected the bill over a provision giving taxpayers the right to a second full trial in district court after losing a tax dispute before the Board of Tax Appeals.
The family of an 11-year-old boy who went missing after falling into a swollen creek is thanking searchers for their efforts. The search for that boy or his body widened yesterday. He disappeared Friday night in Gypsum Creek. Fire officials believe he was walking with friends near the creek, tried to cross but was swept away with the current.
A mystery in Butler County, where investigators are trying to determine what caused an apparently unattended house in the country to explode. That blast leveled the home near Benton yesterday morning, blowing out a neighbor’s windows in the process. Nobody hurt in all that.
In Hodgeman County, law enforcement captures a person accused of rustling cattle. Several agencies were involved and witnessed a person loading up 12 head that they didn’t own or have permission to take. That driver was arrested, and the cattle offloaded.
