Uber shut down in Kansas

Uber has been shut down in Kansas. It put a note to that effect on its app for users in the state after the Kansas Senate voted to override Governor Sam Brownback’s veto of new rules on ride-booking companies. The measure makes drivers get more insurance and a KBI background check. The president of the State Senate calls Uber’s move “political theater” and “irrational behavior”, while the ride-hailing company says in a statement it regrets the loss of jobs, safe rides, and transportation options.
