CCC Volleyball captured their first conference road win on Saturday, Sept. 6. The Trojans needed only three sets to defeat Butler Community College, winning 25-21, 26-24 and 25-13.
Middle hitters Mallory Mueller and Laura Hillebrand continue to make their presence known in league play, both offensively and defensively. In conjunction with right side Adrianna Sosnowska, the three players accounted for 30 of the 46 kills.
“Ada probably had one of her best matches of the season after we spent the last practice speeding up the tempo of her set,” commented Coach Jones.
The Trojans narrowly escaped with the second set. Although they led most of the set and had a comfortable lead of 23-19, the Grizzlies rallied for a 5-point run. Sosnowska attacked for a kill, stealing set point from Butler and a defensive error for the Grizzlies gave the Trojans the advantage. Danielle Rodriguez sealed the victory with an ace.
“I think the most important thing we’ve seen as a coaching staff is that they don’t give up without a fight. That will benefit us later in our season,” commented Coach Jones. “Every time we step onto the court we become more comfortable with who we are as a team.”
