Trego County BOE president arrested for drug & gun charges

John Reeder has resigned from his position as president of the Trego County board of education.

 

Reeder, 52, was arrested yesterday in WaKeeney on charges of possession of marijuana with prior conviction, two counts of distribution within 1,000 feet of a school and criminal use of weapons.

 

Trego County USD 208 Superintendent Dr. George Griffith  released a statement: “I am a firm believer that all members of the school district should be held to the same standards related to their actions regardless if it is a student, teacher, administrator, or even a school board member.”

According to the Trego County Sheriff’s Office, the board of education president for WaKeeney Unified School District 208 has been arrested and jailed on Thursday.

John Reeder, 52, was arrested yesterday in WaKeeney on charges of possession of marijuana with prior conviction, two counts of distribution within 1,000 feet of a school and criminal use of weapons.

 

The previous conviction occurred in 1985.

 

No bond amount was listed on the sheriff department’s website.

 

Sheriff Richard Hanks is directing all further questions to the District Attorney’s office.
