State Considers Easing Snake Protections

State officials are considering easing regulatory protection of a nonvenomous snake. It’s the redbelly snake, not very long or aggressive and is found in the northern part of Kansas. Some leaders near Kansas City claim the snake’s designation as a threatened species is holding up development.
