A judge has scheduled a preliminary hearing in February for two men charged with raping and kidnapping a Johnson County deputy. They’re accused of abducting the woman in October from outside a county jail in Olathe. Authorities claim she was sexually assaulted before her attackers released her in Missouri.
KU students will face roughly a 3 percent increase in room and board costs under a proposal approved by the Kansas Board of Regents. The increase puts the cost of living on campus at just shy of $10,100 a year, factoring in the rent for the dorms and a typical plan in the dining hall.
The National Weather Service confirms Saturday night’s cold snap shattered many low temperature records. Dodge City, Garden City, Medicine Lodge and Hays all set new records. The coldest reading came in Garden City, which checked in early Sunday morning at -19.
