The Wichita State Shockers are ranked No. 3 in the latest Associated Press Poll and USA Today Coaches Poll, their highest ranking since Dec. 29, 1981 when WuShock spent a week as the second ranked team in college basketball.

The Shockers (27-0) moved up one spot in the AP poll after Arizona’s controversial loss to Arizona State on Friday. WSU dropped one spot in the USA Today poll. wichita-state-logo

The only teams ahead of the Shockers are Syracuse (25-0) and Florida (23-2) who leap-frogged WSU after winning at Kentucky on Saturday.

Arizona (23-2) and Duke (20-5) round out the top five. Duke jumps three spots to No. 5 after picking up a close home win against Maryland.

Kansas (19-6) falls one spot in the AP poll to No. 8 after their overtime loss to rival Kansas State (17-7) and beating TCU ( 9-15) on Saturday. The Jayhawks are behind San Diego State (22-2), who beat Kansas in Lawrence earlier this season, and Cincinnati (23-3).

Rounding out the top 10 is Villanova (22-3) after getting “McDermott-ed” by Creighton again and Saint Louis (23-2) checks in at No. 10.
