Colby police Chief Ron Alexander released the following statement in regards to a vehicle crashing into a Colby residence:
“On May 12, 2014 at approximately 1147 pm, Officers from the Colby Police Department responded to a report of an injury accident at 1410 E. 5th Street in Colby. Upon arrival Officers observed a red Chrysler Pt Cruiser that had struck the residence. Officers witnessed a male subject running from the scene and were unable to catch him at that time. Officers did find an apparent passenger of the vehicle involved in the accident lying on the ground, suffering from injuries received during the accident. Thomas County EMS transported the passenger, Paul Luna, from Rexford, to CMC. Luna was later flown to Denver for treatment of possible broken bones and other injuries.
Shortly after, officers responded to the area of South Park Apartments (700 S. Franklin) where they chased the driver of the vehicle on foot until he was arrested. Upon arrest the 17 year old male, also from Rexford, kicked at Officers causing them to fall with the subject. The subject was arrested for suspicion of DUI, Leaving the Scene of an Injury Accident, Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer, and Interference with a Law Enforcement Officer . The subject was booked into the Thomas County Jail and later transported the Garden City Juvenile Facility.”
