Local law enforcement has confirmed reports that there was an unknown individual attempting to pick up a child in front of Colby Grade School Monday afternoon.
The incident occurred just after 4:00PM (Central) according to Colby Police Chief Randy Jones. An 11 year old boy reported to law enforcement that a man he didn’t know asked him if he needed a ride home. The boy denied and continued to walk home with the man making no apparent attempt to follow him.
The individual is described as a white male with long, stringy hair. He was in a small white pick-up truck.
Chief Jones said that his office is following up on this report and that officers were patroling the area this morning.
“Unconfirmed” reports claim that similar incidents have occurred in Burlington, Colorado, St Francis and in Goodland. Law enforcement in those towns have yet to confirm or deny these claims and no descriptions have been given.
