DODGE CITY , KS — Behind four top ten performances they Rawlins County golf team took home the 1A state title at Dodge City’s Mariah Hills.
Buffalos were led by freshman Kendrick Woody who placed 5th shooting a 12-0ver, 83. The other three golfers who placed inside the top ten were seniors Jerry Oelschlager who shot a 15-0ver, 86, Maverick Green & Braden Leitner who each shot an 18-over 89 to tie for ninth.
Rawlins County’s other two golfers Cauy Hayes and Brenan Dixson each placed inside the top 50.
Buffalos as a team combined to shoot a 347, a 15 stroke advantage over the runner-ups from Frankfort.
Wallace County’s team also qualified but placed 11th out of 12 teams shooting a combined score of 400. Trever Medina led the Wildcats with a 25-over, 96 to tie for 23rd. Wheatland-Grinnell’s top qualifier Wyatt Mong tied for 23rd as well shoot the same score, 25-0ver par. Greeley County’s Jose Chavez had a real nice day placing 13th with a 19-0ver par, 90.

2A at Pittsburg’s Crestwood Country Club: Hoxie Indians placed 4th as a team at state shooting a 354 combined score. Jarrod Dible led Hoxie with a 12-over, 84 to tie for 15th. Kel Grafel & Mason Berry led Decatur Community’s three golfers each shooting a 24-over, 96 to placed tied for 38th. Salina Scared Heart took home the title with an unbelievable 279 combined score. The Knights had four golfers finish inside the top six.
3A at Seneca’s Spring Creek Golf Course: Goodland’s Garin Ihrig & Ryan Lalicker each placed tied for 13th shooting 9-over 80’s. Colby’s Jason Krannawitter shot a 19-over 90 to finish tied for 44th placed. Sabetha just edged Phillipsburg & Cimarron for the state crown. Just four strokes separated the top three teams.
