PRATT, KS — In a year where a lot of history has already been made by the Northwest Tech wrestling team, the Mavericks added to that history with a Jayhawk Conference title on Sunday.
The nationally thrid-ranked Mavericks stomped the competition on Saturday, defeating Neosho 44-3 & Pratt, 47-0 and then easily rolled over Cowley (43-6) & Labette (41-4.) on Sunday. Northwwest Tech only ended up losing three matches the whole weekend.
Tech came into the weekend as the heavy favorite after steam rolling the western division earlier this month, including capturing its first ever Jayhawk West crown by beating 15th-ranked Cloud County on Wednesday 39-7. Mav’s also rolled Barton #22 (38-8) & Colby (56-0) earlier this month.
All of this came after the Mav’s brought home a national dual title in Louisville, Kentucky on January 5th.
Mavericks will send some of its backups and redshirts to Golden, Colorado for a tournament this weekend but will rest most of it’s top guys for the upcoming West Central District Championships on February 16th.
