KU students denied request for documents

A Douglas County judge has denied a University of Kansas student’s request to have records from a research center subject to state open records laws. Students are seeking documents to determine if there are any ties between the center’s executive director and the billionaire Koch brothers. The judge says it isn’t clear yet whether Art Hall is a public employee. Hall’s lawyer says a trial is needed to decide that question.
