KSHSAA adopts changes to Class 4A; splits into 2 divisions

andy lambertJune 4, 2013

The 64 Class 4A member schools of the Kansas State High School Activities Association (KSHSAA) have voted to adopt a proposal that split the classification into 2 divisions. 42 schools voted in favor of the switch, 22 voted in opposition. The proposal needed 33 votes to pass.

Class 4A schools, including Goodland and Colby, will now compete in two separate divisions for postseason in the following activites: football, volleyball, basketball, baseball and softball. The half of the Class 4A schools with the larger enrollments will be assigned to Division I and the half of the schools with the smaller enrollment will be assigned to Division II. Both Goodland and Colby will be Division II status.

This format is similar to the current 1A classification for KSHSAA schools.
