KS Senate Panel Discusses Budget Bill, Tax Increase

The Ways and Means Committee in the Kansas Senate is considering a $15.5 billion state budget proposal. It wouldn’t balance without a tax increase of nearly $200 million, something the governor and several members of the legislature have balked at. The projected deficit for next fiscal year’s budget is right around $600 million.
