KS Legislature Mulls Renewable Energy Tax

The House Taxation Committee holds a hearing on a bill that would impose a 4.33 percent excise tax on ethanol products as well as electricity from renewable sources. Ethanol producers claim that would hurt the industry and possibly close some plants, while supporters of the bill believe the legislation would eliminate unnecessary financial protections for renewable energy.
