KDHE requires new vaccines for back-to-school

Jackson SchneiderJuly 19, 2019

The Kansas Department of Health is requiring two new vaccines for the upcoming school year.

Kindergartners and first-graders will need to get two doses of the Hepatitis A vaccine starting this fall. Students going into the seventh grade will need to get a meningococcal ACWY vaccination.

State health officials say the vaccines are safe and can prevent the severe illnesses that Meningitis and Hepatitis A would cause.
