(Press Release from Kansas Bureau of Investigation, September 16, 2016)

On September 15, 2016, at approximately 6:45pm, Ellsworth County Sheriff Traci Ploutz contacted the Kansas Bureau of Investigation to request our assistance in the investigation of an officer involved shooting in Ellsworth County.  It appeared that multiple law enforcement agencies were involved in a vehicular chase with a possibly armed subject.  During the event, three officers from two jurisdictions discharged their firearms.  The subject was transported from the scene via EMS, and later flown to a hospital in Wichita.  The subject is in stable condition.  No law enforcement officers were injured during the event.  The investigation into this event is ongoing, so no further information will be released.

Upon the conclusion of the investigation, the case file will be presented to Ellsworth County Attorney Joe Schepack for his review and consideration.
