The Kansas Humane Society put down about 4,000 animals last year but more than 8,000 got new homes. The group generally doesn’t put out that kind of information but a spokeswoman says the humane society wants to make people more aware of pet overpopulation. More than 70% of pets taken in last year were adopted out; ten years ago, that number was below 30%.
