Americans United for Separation of Church and State members want a Spearville school to remove a cross at the top of the building, saying it violates the First Amendment.

According to the Dodge City Daily Globe, the group wrote to Superintendent Daryl Stegman and Spearville Elementary School Principal Marvin Hartzler in November in response to receiving a complaint from a resident.  Screen shot 2014-02-11 at 2.16.38 PM

The USD 381 Board of Education decided Monday that it would take no action until a lawsuit is formally filed and will not respond to the group.

A picture of the cross in question can be viewed in the hyperlinked Daily Globe article above.
