At 3:20 this morning, Garden City Police responded to an in-progress report of aggravated assault involving a woman holding a knife to an infant’s throat.

According to the press release, officers arrived at the scene of the residence and located the woman standing in the driveway of the residence with the infant in her arms. The woman, identified as Ashley Perez, was allegedly holding the blade of a pocket knife near the throat of her nine-month old son.

Perez allegedly yelled at the officers on scene and refused to release the infant. While officers spoke to Perez in the driveway, officers were able to disarm Perez and grab the infant from Perez. There were no reported injuries. Perez was arrested and lodged into the Finney County Jail on allegations of kidnapping, aggravated assault, and endangering a child.
