SCOTT CITY, KS — All season long the Scott City Beavers have gotten the best of the Colby Eagles on the track and that continued at the GWAC League Meet on Friday.
Both Beaver men and women took home the GWAC title with both of Colby’s teams finishing in the runner up spot. Goodland HS finished in 5th place in both the mens & women’s standings.
Colby men had 22 athletes medal and four individuals place first. Jordan Schippers in the 100 & 200. Luis Madrid in the 300 meter hurdles & Xavier Slaven placed first in the shot put. Eagles placed three shot puters in the top four of the final standings. Lady Eagles had 29 ladies medal and had five place first. Lara Murdock in the mile. Brittany Foss in the 100 meter hurdles. Mya Betz in the shot put. Kailey Shields in the triple jump and the 4×800 relay team took first setting the league record with a time of 10:05.
Goodland had 13 boys place and seven girls place but GHS did not have any conference champions.
The champions Scott City had 27 boys place with nine first placers. Lady Beavers had 30 medalist with eight taking home the gold.
Both Colby, Goodland & Scott City will compete again this coming Friday in Scott City again for Regionals.
