GOODLAND, KS — The Goodland Cowgirls softball team dropped both of their game with Hays TMP on Monday afternoon, falling 16-1 in four innings in game one and then losing game two 13-1 in five innings.
The Goodland Cowgirls watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 16-1 loss in four innings to Hays TMP in game one.
The Monarchs got on the board in the first inning thanks to an Emily Schulte single on a 2-0 count, scoring a run. TMP would follow that up with a home run by Emilee Augustine and never look back. Thomas More Prep-Marian scored five runs in the third inning. The offensive powered by Kyleigh Allen, Augustine, and Sophia Coulter, all driving in runs in the inning.
Brooke Livengood took the loss for Goodland Cowgirls. She went four innings, allowing 16 runs on 17 hits, striking out two and walking one. Allen earned the win for TMP. She surrendered one run on four hits over four innings, striking out eight and walking zero.
Jessi Duell led Goodland with two hits in two at bats and scored the only GHS run.
A lot like game one the Cowgirls got down early and dropped their third straight game falling to Hays TMP 13-1 in just five innings. TMP scored on a double by Emily Schulte, a single by Emilee Augustine, and a double by Lexi Gottschalk in the first inning.
Thomas More Prep-Marian went on to score four more runs in the fourth inning. Kyleigh Allen, Schulte, Sophia Coulter, and Gottschalk powered the big inning with RBIs. Allen got the win for Thomas More Prep-Marian. She lasted five innings, allowing six hits and one run while striking out ten and walking one.
Anna Gutierrez took the loss for the Cowgirls. She surrendered 13 runs on 15 hits over five innings, striking out one and walking one. Brooke Livengood led Goodland with two hits in three at bats.
After winning the first three meetings between the two programs the Cowgirls (2-6 overall) have lost nine straight to Hays TMP (7-5 overall). Goodland hosts Colby on Tuesday afternoon while TMP gets Hays High on Thursday.
