Cowgirls Hope to Continue 2020 with Deep Postseason Run

Ross VolkmerOctober 23, 2020

You could sense even before the season began that Goodland head volleyball coach Angie Brumbaugh was excited about her 2020 squad and as it has turned out, her feeling was correct.

Goodland is in the midst of its best season since Brumbaugh’s first team back in 2013 when they won 28 games and went on to the state tournament. This year’s team, since starting the season 5-5 ten games in, has now rattled off 25 straight victories to push their record to 30-5.  They’ve only lost five sets during this 25-game winning streak which also seen them go unbeaten in GWAC play and capture a GWAC title. And even though the streak has not earned them a top-10 spot in the KVA rankings the Cowgirls are hoping to prove that they belong amongst the best in 3A as they start postseason play as the top seed at the Scott City sub-state on Saturday.

Coach Brumbaugh talks about her team thru the first 35 games of the season and how they are preparing for the postseason. As well as previews the sub-state and possible future opponents in her conversation with Ross Volkmer.
