ULYSSES, KS– A ballgame that was perceived to be an even match up turned out to be a blow out as Ulysses dominated the Goodland Cowboys 62-14. It was all Tigers from the opening kick as UHS scored on there first seven offensive possessions, getting out to a 42-0 lead. The Cowboys didn’t get their first points until the end of the 1st half when Leyton Cure found Chase Johnson down field for a 39 yards touchdown pass. It was Johnson first varsity TD and Cure’s 3rd passing touchdown in his young career. GHS would only score one more time as Cure found pay-dirt again with a QB sneak in the 3rd quarter. But Ulysses would continue to poor it on scoring on nine of their 11 possessions to improve to 1-1 on the season.
The Tiger’s senior QB, Devin Walker had six touchdown passes and another one on the ground to lead UHS. Goodland’s Joe Mann led GHS with 108 total yards, 48 rushing & 60 receiving.
