GOODLAND, KS — Besides putting up a season high in yards gains the Goodland Cowboys 2018 season ended with a 41-23 loss to Holcomb at Cowboy Stadium.
Despite not having a chance to advance in the postseason the Goodland Cowboys had plenty to play for, most importantly a rare chance to end the 2018 season with a victory and match last season’s win total with a less talented & experienced team. But in a rematch against their week one opponent in Holcomb, the Cowboys were unable to stop the run and struggled with turnovers like they have all season long.
Holcomb would lead at the halftime break 21-0 thanks to 198 rush yards and two touchdowns from River Amos and another from Jayson Lambert. While Goodland could only muster 93 total yards at the midway point.

Cowboy offense but up a season 388 total yards, 239 of it on the ground, also a season high. The Goodland defense did struggle again versus the run though allowing 362 yards making it the ninth game this season allowing over 200-plus rushing yards.
Holcomb’s Jayson Lambert was the Longhorns star running 22 times for 200 yards & three touchdowns. River Amos also had 128 total yards and 2 TD’s.
