COLBY, KS — The Cowgirls golf season continued this past Monday in Colby and GHS continued to show signs of improvement. Goodland placed 2nd as a team only behind Syracuse who has dominated women’s golf in the western side of the state this season. The Perryman girls led Goodland, Colby shooting a 95 to place 6th and Bram shooting a 96 to place 8th. Also Brooke Drennan shot a 102. Keyly Jarrett a 103, which was her personal best. Peyton Belden shot a 107, and Xochitl Rodriguez shot a 131 for her personal best.
The Cowgirls would go to Garden City’s Buffalo Dunes on Thursday to compete in the Holcomb Invite but would not compete due to rain. GHS will next head to the Stanton County Tournament on Tuesday.
ULYSSES, KS — Goodland cross country runners competed this past Thursday down at the 40th annual Ulysses Tiger Invitational. In the women’s 5,000 meter race, seniors Sadie McCary & Jayden Vallejo both placed inside the top 20. McCary placing 13th & Vallejo placing 16th. In the men’s race, Trent Coon led GHS placing 19th. Micah Daise placed 30th and Tommy Sibley placed 38th. Neither team had enough runners to place.
ULYSSES, KS — The Goodland volleyball team got back on the court of competition on Thursday down in Ulysses for a quadrangular. The Cowgirls had not had a match for a week and came out of the gates a little flat falling in two sets to Ulysses 25-13 & 25-12. But in their second game of the night GHS showed some resiliency get down one set to none falling 25-21 to Hugoton but would bounce back to win the next two sets (25-18 & 25-13) and take the match. With the split on the night the Cowgirls sit at 3-7 overall and will head to Holcomb for a tournament this weekend.
