The seasons for both the Goodland volleyball and cross country teams came to end this past weekend.
CIMMARON, KS — The Cowgirl volleyball team competed down in Cimarron in sub-state competition. GHS came into the tournament as the number-6 seed and faced the number-3 seed, and host Cimarron in the first round. Unfortunately Goodland would not make it out of the opening round falling to the Bluejays, a team they had beaten earlier in the season, in two sets: 25-20 & 25-23. Cimarron would make it to the substate final before falling to eventual champion Hoisington.
Goodland volleyball ended their 2018 season with an 8-27 record overall.
GOODLAND VOLLEYBALL HEAD COACH ANGIE BRUMBAUGH’s THOUGHTS ON THE SEASON:
GYPSUM, KS — It was also a tough day in postseason action for the Goodland cross country team who competed at Southeast of Saline High School in Gypsum. Goodland had eight total runners, boys and girls combined, running for a catch to qualify for state, but nobody made the cut.
On the boys side, Trent Coon placed 20th overall. Micah Daise placed 67th, Riley Vallejo 86th & Chandler Clayville took 89th.
As for the girls, it was Jayden Vallejo who was GHS’ top runner placing 35th. Sadie McCary took 57th & Ariane McCary placed 68th. Haylee Schurr would place 72nd.
