LAKIN, KS — The weather may be getting cool but the Goodland Cowgirl golf team is heating up as there season begins to wind down. GHS shot a season best 360 as a team at Saturday’s Lakin Invitational taking home a first place finish.
Four girls shot career bests: Brooke Drennen (88), Colby Perryman (92), Peyton Belden (96) and Keyly Jarrett (98) and all six girls placed inside the top 12. Kerrigan Rudolph shot a team low, 84 to place 4th, Drennen placed 5th. Colby Perryman took 7th, Peyton Belden placed 8th, Bram Perryman, 10th & Jerrett placed 11th.
“We beat a very good Syracuse team today, not due to them faltering, but our girls played their best. That’s a good win for us at this point of the season,” said coach Connie Livengood.
Goodland splits their team up as the top squad heads to GWAC League Tournament down at Buffalo Dunes in Garden City. While the second team heads to the Hays-TMP tournament.
OAKLEY, KS — After winning two matches out of three at home earlier in the week the Goodland Volleyball team headed to Oakley to compete in the Oakley Tournament on Saturday.
It was a tough showing for GHS as they lost all three of their matches. Goodland fell to Scott City, 25-22, 25-15 in their first match. Lost in three sets to Quinter, 22-25, 25-16, 25-16. And was beaten by a Wheatland / Grinnell team they had topped earlier in the week: 15-25, 25-19, 25-13.
Goodland sits at 6-15 on the season and will head to the Rawlins County Quad on Tuesday.
SYRACUSE, KS — Goodland cross country runners stretched out there legs on Saturday at the Syracuse Invitational. Neither team had enough runners to score in the team standings. But individually: Trent Coon was the top mens runner placing 23rd & Micah Daise placed 57th. As for the ladies: Sadie McCary was the top Cowgirl runner placing 24th. Jayden Vallejo placed 28th and Ariane McCary placed 34th. Hailey Schurr placed 55th.
Goodland will next run at Lakin on October 6th.
