GOODLAND, KS– The Goodland Cowgirl volleyball team’s season got off to bit of a rocky start Tuesday. GHS opened its season at home inside the Max Jones Fieldhouse against former Northwest Kansas League members, Hoxie & St. Francis. Goodland lost their first match of the evening to Hoxie, 25-14 in game one and 25-21 in game two. After that game, the Cowgirls took on the Lady Indians of St. Francis and dropped both sets, 27-25 & 25-15. Goodland sits at 0-2 on the season and returns to action on Thursday versus Wray with the game set to start at 5:30 MT.
CIMARRON, KS– The Goodland girls golf squad teed it up for the first time this season at the Cimarron Golf Club. Led by Brooke Drennen and Bram Perryman, who both medaled, the Cowgirls took home a 4th place finish as a team. Drennen shot a 52 for 12th place and Perryman shot a 54 placing 13th. Ashtin McClung, Ella Ihrig, and Keyly Jarrett shot 65’s and Sara Syverson shot a 71 for a team total of 236.
“Today was a good start for our season on golf. I felt like we could have done better. Putting was good for some of the girls and not so good for others. All of them can improve their scores.” said head coach Connie Livengood said after the tournament.
Syracuse High School won the tournament by 23 strokes. GHS will return to competition this coming Tuesday when they host there own tournament.
UPCOMING: Goodland Cross Country will begin its season on Thursday the 30th at home at Sugar Hills Golf Club.
