On a very windy Tuesday afternoon the Cowboys got off to a fast start scoring four runs in the bottom of the 1st but could not hold on as Colby would lead 15-8 heading into the bottom of the 5th inning. Senior Evan Peter went 3-4 with 3 RBI’s & senior Marcus Cardona would also drive in two going 3 for 3 in a losing effort. Colby’s bottom five of there lineup went 8 for 18 with seven runs scored & six RBI’s.
Goodland once again started out on top thanks to an Evan Peter solo shot in the 1st–his 2nd home run of the season–but that was all Goodland would get losing 14-1. Colby junior pitcher JT Zerr, was masterful throwing for 5 innings allowing just 5 hits & 1 run while striking out five to improve to 3-0 on the season. Cowboys pitching struggled allowing 17 baserunners to reach for Colby by either walking or getting hit by a pitch.
Colby improves to 6-2 overall, 4-2 in GWAC play and will play at Great Bend on April 20th. Goodland falls to 8-3 overall, 3-2 in GWAC and is at Ulysses on the same day, but both games could be pending due to weather.
