VICTORIA, Kan. — A solid day for area schools wrapped up with one title, as the Oakley girls cross country team took home the crown at the Hays High School Sand Plum Invite.

Oakley’s girls saw three finishers inside the top ten, while Colby had two. The Eagles, however, did not have enough runners to tally a team score.

Both Colby and Oakley’s girls teams tallied three individual medalists in the meet. Seanna Metcalf (SO), Jill Stephens (SR), and Brittany Foss (SR) for the Eagles. While, Jaelle Johnson (FR), Danielle Allison (SR), and Citori Bosserman (FR) took home hardware for Oakley.

On the boys side, Colby finished fourth, while Oakley finished in sixth place.

Colby’s Ryan Voss (SR) took third place with a time of 17:44, while Trey Stramel (SR) also m

edalled, finishing in 12th with a time of 19:32.

Oakley did not slot a finisher in a position to medal, but Tyler Schoenberger (JR) was just 15 seconds out of medal pace, posting a 20:03. Sean Runnalls (JR) finished in 24th with a time of 20:52 for the Plainsmen.
