GOODLAND, KS–The six GWAC track teams came together in Goodland to compete for league supremacy on a sunny and breezy Thursday afternoon.
Despite not being able to hold on for the win in the 4×400 meter relay over Scott City in the final race of the day, the Colby girls team held on to defeat the Lady Beavers by five total team points and came away with the GWAC title. In all, Colby had 25 events place, four of which took first. Erin Krannawitter in the 200 meter dash. Lara Murdock in the 800 & 1600 meter runs and the 4×100 meter relay (Hallie Vaughn, Rachel VanEaton, Nicolette Stapp, Erin Krannawitter). It was Colby’s seventh league title in the past eight seasons.
Goodland girls placed third, have 17 events place including two first placers: Elle McDaniel in the Javelin and Kiersten Kent in the triple jump.

It was not as of successful day for the boys teams of Goodland and Colby.
Colby had 18 events place, two of them finishing in first: Xavier Slaven in the Shot Put & Jordan Schippers in the 200 meter dash. In the end Colby placed 4th.
Goodland had 16 events place inside the top six. But only one guy placing first in Lucas Wood in the High Jump.
