Colby, Goodland & Oakley Track Teams Compete in Wakeeney

WAKEENEY, KS — Multiple area schools ran at the Goldsmith Relays this past Thursday with the Colby boys and Hays TMP girls taking home the team titles.

Colby boys had 23 athletes place in the track meet. Five events took home first place. Jordan Schippers in the 100 meter dash. Xavier Slaven in the javelin & all three relay teams.

Oakley boys scored 40 points and placed 7th as a team. Nine events placed for OHS. Ethan Abell placed top four in both the 100 & 200. All three relays placed top four. Ellis Slack was the Plainsmen top placer with a second place finish in the javelin.

Goodland boys had eight events place scoring them 35 points to place 8th, but none of them took first. Top performers included Joe Mann placing top four in both the 200 & 400. The 4×400 team took 3rd and Mason Neal was the highest individual placer for GHS taking second in the high jump.

On the women’s side of things, Colby was the high area placer, finishing 24 points behind runner Norton & 38 points behind champion Hays TMP.  Lady Eagles, like their boys also placed 23 athletes but only had one champion and that was Brittany Foss in the 300 hurdles.

Oakley girls had nine top-six placers to finish in sixth, but no champions. Danielle Allison placed in both the 800 and the mile individually. Ayonna Heinrich placed top four in both the shot & javelin.  While Jordyn Lowrie took second in the high jump.

And the Goodland Cowgirls placed tied for 7th as team with Victoria. GHS had seven events medal, but also did not have a champion. Cowgirls were led by Rachel Witman & Mikayla Biermann. Biermann took sixth in the mile & fifth in the two mile. Witman also placed in two events taking third in the pol vault and fourth in the 100 hurdles.
