
The Democratic candidate for governor wants to push back the second phase of cuts to the Kansas income tax until public education funding goes back to where it was before the recession. House minority leader Paul Davis is on the campaign trail in KCK and Wichita. He’s been a strong opponent of governor Brownback’s tax cuts, claiming they don’t work and pointing to disappointing revenue numbers in April and May as proof. Brownback’s camp notes June’s numbers were ahead of forecast, and that’s a sign his policies are working.
