Rocking M Radio presents “Brian Odle and the Hillbilly Underground” Saturday night at the Cooper Barn in Colby as the headliner for the annual “Farmer, Rancher and Listener Appreciation Night.

The event starts at 6:00PM with a last chance drawing for the Great Bull Giveaway promotion. Brian Odle will take the stage at 7:00PM. Concessions will be available from the Thomas County Fair Board. There is no cover charge for the event.

Born in Chanute, Kansas, Brian Odle got an early taste for country music from his father Bob. Brian’’s father worked as an electrical lineman and spent a lot of time on the road driving to various work sites. While in the truck Bob would listen to and sing along with the country music legends. Brian listened to country music before he could talk, and began identifying with the lyrics at an early age.

Like father-like son, Brian chose an occupation that would have him on the road for many hours a day doing, you guessed it, singing along with country music legends like Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Billy Joe Shaver and many others that he looked up to.

Tragically, Brian’’s father passed away in 1997 at an early age leaving Brian to interpret many new views of our time on earth. ““Life is short and you must pursue any and all dreams that you have!”” Brian dabbled on the guitar for a couple of years, and played sax in the high school band and his love and respect for music as a whole inspired him to chase his dream.

After winning several talent contests locally as well as in other states, Brian went on to enter a contest in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee. There, he was approached by Dwight Johnson a promoter and talent scout, about his ability to capture an audience. Dwight suggested that he go to Nashville and really learn the business. Brian did just that, and met up with great songwriters to include Pat Durbin, Rich Fagen and others. Brian has since built a strong friendship with all of them.

Chasing his dream has now become a reality. Brian’’s goals have never been to have a short lived sudden burst of fame or major financial gain. His goal is to gain the respect and friendship of all the great people he has become close friends with, while touching them with his realistic way of writing and delivering a message on both ends of our emotions. When asked what is meant by paying your dues, Brian’’s reply is, ““Certainly not dragging equipment in and out of smoky bar rooms (that is a hell of a lot of fun), but losing almost everything you have, your money, credit, and the respect of your peers who think you have lost your mind chasing your music dream. That is all a small price to pay for doing what you love.””

Today, Brian and his band play throughout the United States. Brian has created his first studio album, entitled ““My Strongest Weakness””, which received a ““Genuine Discovery”” comment from Music Critic Robert K. Oermann on two separate occasions. It demonstrates Brian’’s ability to not only write a great country song, but to perform it as well. You should keep your ears open on the radio for Brian Odle he is an artist you will be hearing on every channel soon.

Most recently, Brian has had the opportunity to visit with George and Nancy Jones at their home where he began a friendship and mentorship with George. He has had the privilege to perform with many great country artist. Most importantly this has given Brian the opportunity to entertain a vast amount of people, including President Bush, Vice-President Cheney and our nation’’s troops.
