Attorney General dismisses same-sex marriage case

andy lambertJuly 1, 2015
Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt dismisses a case he filed last year with the state Supreme Court to keep counties from issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples. Schmidt filed a notice with the state’s highest court saying his case is moot because of the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling last week legalizing gay marriage across the nation. Kansas hasn’t changed its policy of not allowing gay and lesbian couples to file joint tax returns.
