What is the Colby ARTWALK? 24 businesses in the downtown Franklin area will be open to the public to view art that was created by artists locally and in the NW Kansas area. It is a great opportunity to see original artwork, or purchase a piece if you like.
There are also other activities at the Artwalk: caricature artists on the sidewalks, musicians playing guitars, saxaphone, and the ‘Mamas Boys’ flash dance mob by students from Nicole’s School of Dance, a balloon man, students doing transfer tattoos and face painting, and more suprises.
NEW THIS YEAR! FOOD!! If you would like a sit down mean, Mabel’s and B-Hive are in the downtown are, David Pabst will be hosting a chuckwagon chili meal, homemade peach cobbler, and drink for around $5.00 along with the Trinity Youth Group singing campfire songs for your entertainment in the lot south of Bankwest, seating will be available, and the CCC girls softball team will offer food at the north end of Franklin. Thomas County Coalition will again be giving away bottled water and healthy snacks to promote fitness in our community- for this we are grateful.
ALSO NEW THIS YEAR!! Art Bucks, will be passed out at various locations at the Artwalk. On the back of the artbuck could be a coupon from a local business OR a money value to be used to buy an original piece of art at the Artwalk. The Artwalk is funded through donations only, if you would like to donate, please contact Rebel Jay at 785-269-7065. All donations are used solely for the Artwalk in the form of art bucks, and tips for the sidwalk performers (so they’ll come again next year). All donations are Greatly Appreciated, and it may help someone who has always wanted a unique original piece of art be able to afford one. Bring the whole family and help promote culture in our area.
