WAMEGO, KS — The Wallace County boys cross country team proved that it was the best in 1A Saturday taking home a state championship. The Wildcats just edged St. John by one point to take home the gold. Trevor Fischer led the way placing third. Richard Kiser placed 12th, Trevor Medina, 22nd, Chandler Van Allen 30th and Andrew Noone placed 51st. It was Wallace County’s first state title in Cross Country. In the girls race, Lady Wildcat runner Adrienne Selzer finished in 25th place.
Quinter’s boys team, led by Oura Chester who placed 17th, finished 8th in the team standings.
In 2A race, Hoxie’s Thaddeus Friess placed 4th in the mens race while his teammate Emily Dierks would place 7th in the girls race.
LAWRENCE, KS — Two Colby High School runners competed in the 3A state cross country championship at the Rim Rock Farm Saturday morning. In the ladies race sophomore Lara Murdock had a special day as they took home the silver placing 2nd overall and only four seconds behind the leader. Fellow GWAC school Scott City took home the team title, their first in school history. As for the boys race, junior Ryan Voss placed 25th individually.
