GOODLAND, KS — It was only the second outing for the Goodland boys golf team on Tuesday but they looked to be in midseason form winning their own Goodland Invitational at Sugar HillS Golf Club.
As a team GHS shot the day low score of 345 led by their two top golfers in Garin Ihrig and Ryan Lalicker who shot 75 & 78 to placed first and second respectively as individuals. Hays TMP took second shooting a 351 as team led by Cameron Rozean who placed 3rd with a 78. Scott City placed 3rd with a 358 led by Jackson Lewis and Shea Morris who rounded out the top five in the individual standings.
Hoxie took 4th as a team despite only having one golfer place inside the top ten in Jarrod Dible who took tenth. Oberlin, Colby & Rawlins County placed six thru eight. Oakley, Wallace County & St. Francis placed eleventh thru thirteenth.
Other top golfers yesterday included Rawlins County’s Kendrick Woody placed 7th with an 88. Decatur Communities Spencer Wishon took 9th. Carter Stanley placed 11th to lead Colby High School with an 89. Hoxie’s Ashton Dowell & Goodland’s Talon Corke rounded out the top 15 which were rewarded hardware.
Many area teams that competed at Goodland will hope to be back on the course in Atwood for the Rawlins County Invite on Saturday.
