Track squads from the northwest Kansas area competed at Wakeeney on Thursday in their track invitational. Despite the very windy conditions multiple events placed.
On the girls:
Colby took 3rd with 75.5 points, placing 18 events and taking home gold in one of them as freshman Lara Murdock took 1st in the 800 meter run.
Oakley Lady Plainsmen took 5th with 44 points, had 11 events place, but didn’t have one event take home 1st place. Sophomore Jordan Lowrie placed 2nd in both the 400 meter dash and the high jump.
And Goodland girls took 8th with 29 team points. Seven events placed with sophomore Kiersten Kent leading the way placing in all four of her events.
On the boys side:
Colby finished 3rd, just like the girls with 89 points and 12 events placing inside the top six. Five individuals for the Eagles took home Gold. Junior, Jordan Schippers took first in the 100 & 200 meters. Eagles. 4X1 & 4X4 teams won the relays & junior Xavier Slaven took first in the Javelin.
Oakley finished 5th, scored 47.5 points. Had 13 events place inside the top six. Only one event took first and it was the 4X8 relay.
Brewster took 8th, edging Goodland by a half a point with 19 thanks to four events placing. One of them being senior Zack Johnson won the Discus.
And Goodland scored 18.5 points and finished 9th with five events placing and senior Dawson Raymer taking 1st in the 300 meter hurdles.
