GOODLAND, Kan. — The 2019 Topside Tip-Off Tournament is set to begin action Thursday afternoon at the Max Jones Fieldhouse in Goodland. Eight high schools from Kansas, Colorado, and Nebraska are slated in this year’s bracket.
The 2019 field features the same teams from a season ago, but mixed into a different order of pairings.
Last season, Yuma High School of Colorado took home the boys crown with wins over Norton, Colby, and Lakin for the title. On the girls side, Wray High School, also from Colorado captured the title, defeating Burlington (CO), Goodland, and Norton.
This season’s action will begin with two courts of action at 2 p.m. Mountain Time on Thursday, December 12. In the Max Jones Fieldhouse, Yuma (CO) battles McCook (NE) in girls action, while Norton (KS) will take on Lakin (KS) in the Auxiliary Gymnasium in the boys bracket to begin the day.
In the second wave of games, the same teams are featured, but in the opposite brackets. Norton and Lakin will play in the Auxiliary Gym in the girls bracket, with Yuma and McCook facing off in the MJFH on the boys side.
In the first round of night games, Colby (KS) will play Wray (CO) at 6 p.m. MT in boys action, inside the Aux. Gym, while Goodland (KS) will take on Burlington (CO) in the MJFH in girls tournament play. Then, the two will flip for the 8 p.m. action, with the schools playing in the same gyms as the 6 o’clocl round.
Game times Friday and Saturday will depend on each team’s results on the day prior, but the bracket and game schedule is below.
